For the second time in the year, the Netherlands had to deal with a severe storm. The westerly wind caused a lot of damage to greenhouses, but dairy farmers also reported damage. The extent of the damage cannot be given yet.
Marien Boersma, director of Agriver, is the first to make a small estimate of the damage. So far, 25 reports have been received from all over the Netherlands of damage, mainly to greenhouses.
Southwest hit first
"The first reports came from the southwest of the country, but South Holland, North Holland and Flevoland followed soon after. It is a stormy start to 2018," says Boersma. on January 3 also hit a storm in the Netherlands.
Not only greenhouses were damaged, because many tiles also fell from the roof. This caused extensive damage to buildings. Which can also be deduced from the messages on Twitter. More can be said about the extent of the damage later.
