€1,65 million available

Friesland wants to stimulate sector renewal

7 February 2018 - Kimberly Bakker

The province of Friesland wants to stimulate innovations in the agricultural sector. It is allocating €1,65 million for this. The province of Friesland announced this on Tuesday 6 February.

The province of Friesland is not responsible for the entire amount, but contributes €900.000 of the total amount (€1,65 million). The remaining €750.000 is a contribution from Europe.

Protecting nature and the environment
The scheme is intended for farmers who invest in methods that also contribute to, for example, the protection of meadow birds or that reduce phosphate emissions. "The goal is to make farms strong for the future and at the same time protect nature and the environment," the province said on its website.

Reduction of the threshold amount
This subsidy scheme is part of the European subsidy program for Rural Development 2014 – 2020 (POP-3). The threshold amount for this program was €65.000, but experience has shown that this is too high. That is why it has been decided to reduce this amount to € 25.000.

The scheme is open from March 5 to June 8, 2018.
