"At the moment, 2 main goals from the Energy Agreement are within reach," said Minister Eric Wiebes (Economic Affairs and Climate). It concerns the production of more sustainable energy and annual energy savings.
Minister Wiebes announces the above in a letter to the House of Representatives† He does report, however, that additional measures will be taken in 2018 to still achieve the goals that have not been achieved.
Sustainable energy generation
The National Energy Outlook (NEV) signals a strong growth in the share of renewable energy, which would result in 2023% in 17,3 and the target of 16% being more than achieved. For 2020, however, the share of renewable energy is 13% instead of the agreed 14%. This goal is not being achieved, because the projects that should help with this have been delayed.
Wiebes wants the provinces to take responsibility for realizing these projects on time. The minister also plans to use government land for the generation of solar energy. Initially, approximately 100 hectares will be used for this purpose. "All efforts are necessary, because it will not be easy", Minister Wiebes said.
Energy saving
The annual energy saving rate in the coming years is expected to be 1,7%, above the target of 1,5%. However, the target of 100 Peta Joule extra energy savings is not achieved. That is why there will be an information obligation for companies, in which they must report the progress of energy savings. To deploy and maintain this system, €3 million is being deployed.
