Grant of €17,5 million

Budget for removing asbestos roofs increased

6 April 2018 - Kimberly Bakker - 1 reaction

The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management has increased the budget for the subsidy scheme 'removal of asbestos roofs' for 2018. The amount goes from €11,3 million to €17,5 million. This is reported by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl).

The original budget is expected to be exhausted by mid-April. However, in order to continue to stimulate the removal of asbestos, it has been decided to bring forward part of the available budget (the aforementioned €17,5 million).

Ban on asbestos roofs
This subsidy scheme is intended for the removal of asbestos roofs. This because all asbestos roofs are prohibited from 1 January 2024. RVO.nl does report that the ban and the subsidy scheme only relate to applications containing asbestos in roofs that are in contact with the open air (e.g. roofing made of asbestos corrugated sheets and roofing slates with asbestos).

The subsidy scheme runs until 31 December 2019. A total budget of €75 million is available during this period.

The date of the asbestos ban in 2024 is not yet final. The journalist industry should do their homework a little better instead of talking to each other.
Besides, it is practically impossible to remove everything before this date, especially with the rigid, many, unnecessary, expensive, regulations.
