Contamination risk passed

National confinement obligation lifted after 3 months

12 April 2018 - Anne Jan Doorn

The national mandatory incubation will be withdrawn on 13 April by Minister Schouten of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. Other national measures against the spread of bird flu have also been lifted.

The risk of avian flu infection from wild waterfowl has decreased to such an extent that the measures are no longer necessary. Once before measures were withdrawn in 6 regions, this is now also the case in the rest of the country.

Also the transport ban around the area where the most recent outbreak was, at a poultry farm in Kamperveen, will be withdrawn as of April 13. Hygiene regulations for entering the stable and yard will, however, continue to apply to all regions. The confinement obligation has been in force for more than 3 months.
