Innovators are growing well in Johannes Kerkhovenpolder

29 May 2018 - Anne Jan Doorn

Although it is dry in the Johannes Kerkhovenpolder, which is located in the far north of Groningen, the Innovators are developing well. The plants emerged on Friday 18 May.

The plot with Innovators in the Johannes Kerkhovenpolder in Groningen is 17 hectares and the potatoes are grown in loamy soil. Before the potatoes were there, there was alfalfa on the plot.

Plowing in autumn
As for the edits; plowing was done in the fall. In addition, 35 tons of goat manure per hectare was also applied in the autumn. Subsequently, a basic fertilization of 19 kilos of nitrogen was applied on 228 April.

On April 21 it was time for the big work. First of all, the land has been prepared with a headhunter and full-field fress. The potatoes were then planted on 21 April and soiled immediately. This was done with a trailed Miedema cup planter. There are 11 hectares of seed potatoes in size 45/55 and 6 hectares in size 35/45.

The potatoes are now well above. The emergence of the plants has already been viewed with a drone. The emergence of the crop was viewed with a drone on 25 May.
