The frequently asked question is: how are you?

2 August 2018

"How are you?" It is a frequently asked and heard question. And often people respond that things are going well, even when they are not. If you say it's not going well, you have to explain it. And you may not want or need that. What should someone else do with your worries and worries, and imagine that you would become emotional?

Apparently, being honest about yourself or your situation is experienced as difficult by many people. I often hear that 'hanging out the dirty laundry' is not that simple. And that's right. It is not done (certainly in our performance-oriented society) to show or admit your efforts.

It is a fact that many people or (more specifically) agricultural entrepreneurs walk around with concerns. And that is understandable, if you see what is happening from the government, in nature, the market and society.

Maybe you should look in the mirror every now and then

Reflection
You may need to ask yourself, "How are you?" Look in the mirror every now and then and determine whether your life or business is still on the right course and doing the right things. We call this reflection in the coaching world. You reflect on your actions, your life or business: How are you?

Do you dare to be honest with yourself and your environment? Making choices, perhaps changing course? What do you do when you tell yourself that things are not going well? I meet too many entrepreneurs who struggle on alone for too long and can't get out. They eventually get stuck. Frustrated, burned out and exhausted.

Search for help
In the agricultural world, we don't look for help that quickly. Work harder though. But what if you can't figure it out anymore? It would do many entrepreneurs good if they ask themselves more often and earlier how things are going and ask for help in time. Someone who sincerely asks you how it is, and who helps you further.

How are you? I hope good. And if not, I wish you the strength and courage to seek help in time.
