Cosun handles delivery obligations flexibly

3 August 2018 - Anne Jan Doorn - 3 comments

Cosun has announced that it will deal more flexibly with its delivery obligations due to the extreme drought. The campaign will also start later.

The growers will shortly be informed about exactly how Cosun intends to implement this. The existing procedure for a possible partial exemption from the delivery obligation will be adjusted, according to Cosun in any case.

Campaign planning
Cosun will announce the planning of the campaign in mid-August. It is still difficult for the organization to estimate the consequences of drought. There is therefore no exact estimate of the effect on yield and total harvest. It is clear, however, that the drought will cause a significant loss of yield.

We do not irrigate beets of € 40/ton. Option to give a good scoop of nitrogen later when it starts to rain. Will you soon be able to sell beet leaves to those poor farmers? Are they willing to pay more than the price we get for our beets?
