Grimme continues to focus on vegetable technology

6 November 2018 - Niels van der Boom

The German family business Grimme has owned the Danish manufacturer Asa-Lift since 2013. In the Netherlands we mainly know this brand for their top lifting harvesters. Further integration into the Grimme product range will follow in 2019. The manufacturer is also getting into vegetable sowing technology.

The collaboration between Grimme and Asa-Lift now extends beyond a mere majority stake. Grimme components are used as much as possible and Grimme Premium dealers have been given the opportunity to become dealers. Further integration will follow in 2019, with the blue-red machines given a completely red look with a matching logo.

Production Expansion
This spring, Asa-Lift opened the doors of a new production hall. The number of employees has also increased by 30% (since the takeover). Despite the interweaving of the companies, Sorö, near Copenhagen, remains the home base of Asa-Lift. What follows is a new color and modified logo. Officially, the refreshed machines will be presented at the beginning of December during the Grimme Technica.

We want to significantly expand the vegetable technology segment

-Franz Grimme

Owner Franz Grimme says he wants to expand in the vegetable technology segment. The step that has recently been taken fits in with that statement. Grimme has entered into a strategic partnership with British seed drill manufacturer Stanhay. Officially, this new step, and the accompanying ProAir precision seed drill, will also be presented at Grimme Technica. However, visitors to the Bejo days in September were already able to view it.

Stanhay seeder
With the collaboration, Grimme also has a seeder for carrots and onions in the program, which the company could not supply before. From 2019, selected dealers will be able to sell Stanhay red machines, so writes Prof. The machines are offered in 7 European countries, including the Netherlands. The intention is to sell more red Stanhay machines through the Grimme network in the future.

It is not the last deal Grimme makes with a fellow manufacturer. At Grimme Technica, which will take place from December 4 to 7, the company will also announce a strategic partnership with a manufacturer of tillage machines. The company can already supply their planters with Lemken power harrows.
