Broad Weather Insurance more attractive from 2020

12 November 2018 - Niels van der Boom - 3 comments

If it is up to State Secretary Menno Snel (Finance), the insurance tax on the Broad Weather Insurance will disappear in 2020. This should make it more attractive to take out insurance. The European Commission must first approve the measures.

Monday 12 November will make Snel in a letter to parliament known that it wants to abolish the insurance tax of 21%. However, this is only possible if the European Commission (EC) has no state aid objections. In the coming period, the State Secretary will discuss this with the EC.

Important bottleneck
The insurance tax is seen as an important bottleneck for taking out a Broad Weather Insurance. End of September voted a majority of the House of Representatives for a motion to abolish the tax. Also insurers, such as Vereinigte Hagel, shouted to this.

According to Jan Schreuder, director of Vereinigte Hagel, the rest of Europe already has an insurance tax exemption. The tax generates €4 million annually in the state treasury, which the agricultural sector cannot use as a deductible item.

LTO Nederland says it is satisfied with the decision, and says it has also lobbied for months for this, but would rather see an abolition as of 2019 instead of 2020.

What kind of message is this, so we should be happy that it might start from 2020
Why not next growing season
Very disappointed in Europe as always
England will soon be able to quickly introduce regulations
This Europe is untenable and ungovernable

LTO satisfied, they don't understand the Breede weather insurance there yet, why not next growing year. There is a constant cry again, risk is insurable through broadeweather insurance and in short it is just a K... insurance this has become clear last season, irrigated for many tens of thousands, the proceeds are just ordinary and you therefore do not fall into the damage scheme.LTO should really show balls and not that soft stuff.

State Secretary Mr Snel does not do his name justice to only abolish the insurance tax from 2020.
if Mr Snel were quick, the tax would be retroactive
force should be abolished.
the reduction of payment entitlements by 4.48% (30 million) can be done quickly with retroactive effect
that 30 million is our money and one should not complain about 4 million tax
LTO does what you have to do, also for the arable farmer.
You can no longer respond.
