News Onion Analysis 2018

The onion analysis is back on the mat

19 November 2018 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

The third edition of the Boerenbusiness Onion analysis is back on the mat with subscribers. This year, too, the analysis is full of background stories, opinions, and last but not least the analysis of the onion market.

You have special years, unique years and 2018. Due to its capriciousness, the cultivation of onions is not suitable for the frightened farmers, but for the attackers. Halving the yield makes 2018 a challenging onion year.

What to do?
How should the sector deal with these challenges? A lot of packing capacity, large exporters and endless growth seemed to be the motto. Now that an onion shortage seems imminent, people will sometimes be scratching their heads there too. The only thing we can cling to (regarding the old laws of the market) is: beware of what isn't there!

2018 analysis
In addition to the extensive market analysis, you can also read about sales strategies and the emerging demand for large onions. The company report on De Groot en Slot gives a look behind the scenes. In addition, the analysis includes an interview with the Dutch ambassador in Senegal and an article about the changing role of commission agents.
