Precision farming in new business at CNH

4 December 2018 - Niels van der Boom

CNH Industrial, the parent company of tractor manufacturers New Holland, Case IH and Steyr, launches a new company: Agxtend. It will include aftermarket precision farming techniques; scanners, sensors and weather stations are part of the portfolio.

In addition to the 3 tractor brands, the products are also available to third parties, or available as an aftermarket option through CNH dealers. The company cites the move as an important part of their strategy to offer customers more than straightening systems for their tractors.

Dutch link
The package that Agxtend will offer consists of 5 products. These all come from the partnerships that were concluded with other manufacturers in recent years. For example, CNH purchases the weather stations and moisture sensors from the Dutch AppsforAgri. At CNH they are called Rainxact and Soilxact.

Another product is the electric weed killer from the German brand Zasso, with whom a collaboration was announced last month. At CNH, this device, which is still in the testing phase, is called Xpower. The Soilmapper from manufacturer TSM is called Soil Xplorer. It can automatically adjust the working depth of machines to the soil composition. The NIRS sensor, which New Holland builds in the forage harvesters together with the Italian Dinamica Generale, also falls under Agxtend.

Collaboration with Isaria
New is the Crop Xplorer, which CNH obtains from Isaria in Germany. This company has been supplying the crop scanner to manufacturer Claas for some time. According to CNH, the 5 products can all be used in conjunction with the company's existing electronics and GPS systems.

Case IH, NH and Steyr dealers will be able to sell the Agxtend products from Q2019 XNUMX. Starting in Europe, which will be rolled out to other regions later.
