Mechan Group remains active in Flevoland
Agco importer Mechan Groep from Achterveld (Gelderland) and its partners in Flevoland and the Veluwe will remain active as a dealer for Fendt and Valtra. The importer makes this known to their affiliated dealers. The shifts follow after Abemec took over Van Arendonk at the end of November.
Roughly speaking, Mechan Groep (formerly De Vor) is the importer for the Central and Northern Netherlands. Abemec imports Fendt and Massey Ferguson in the southern part of our country. There are some exceptions; For example, Abemec has a branch in Groningen and Mechan Groep has been in the south-west of the country since this year.
Dealer off
At the end of November, Abemec announced that it would take over the Van Arendonk Mechanisatie sites (Zeewolde, Dronten and Ermelo). Despite the move, Mechan Group remains active in the area, it said. "After a discussion with the management of Abemec, we have decided not to offer a dealer contract to the new owner", it can be read. Special, since Abemec itself is an importer.
However, the importership does not apply to Valtra. The Eastern and Southern Flevoland area will therefore be served by Offringa from Creil from the new year. There are now concrete plans for a second location.
Existing dealers
Mechan Groep also continues with Fendt in the areas that have been lost. The existing dealer Van der Weerd from Kampen will be added to Flevoland and the north of the Veluwe. Dealer Van den Brink from Harskamp includes the southern part of the Veluwe. The importer cites the reason that the new owner (Abemec) is not prepared to meet the quality requirements set. "Abemec's vision is not compatible with our strategy."
Little will change for the customer. Van der Weerd already served customers in Flevoland, as did a number of other Fendt suppliers. Valtra in Flevoland has also already been sold from the Noordoostpolder. Most startlingly, the Agco importers are 'openly' competing with each other for the largest market share. Both have the ambition to act as a national importer, with only Mechan Groep carrying the full Agco package.
