As a sales and media advisor, Moniek Oomen (27) has been contributing to the turnover and growth of for more than 1 year Boerenbusiness† The relatively young company is a progressive player in the agricultural media. Why choose Boerenbusiness?
The result is what makes her proud. "Coming to a great product together with the customer, that's where I get energy and passion from." In contrast to the stereotypical salesperson, Moniek is primarily a people person, in which she puts a good relationship and satisfied customer first. "Whether it's a deal of €1.000 or €10.000, the satisfaction comes mainly from a successful collaboration."
A young company, but also a young team?
"Yes. I also think that the strength of the company is that the average age is fairly low. There is no clear hierarchy and the lines are short. The people are full of creative ideas and are not stuck in a certain way of doing things. work or think."
"We are a young, fresh and, above all, dynamic team that can say anything to each other. We keep each other sharp and learn from each other. Because you are close to each other with marketing, sales, editing, design and ICT, different visions are presented. "This gives you new insights and sometimes the best ideas arise at the coffee machine. We often make time for a joke and a laugh and there is an informal atmosphere that promotes creativity. And we always have a well-filled jar of licorice ."
That sounds like a lot of fun!
"That is what it is, but at the same time you have to work seriously. The casual atmosphere and relatively much freedom also come with a lot of responsibility; after all, turnover also has to be generated. When I just arrived here, my direct colleague was given a Unable to work for a longer period of time, which means a lot has fallen on my shoulders in a short time. I experience the freedom and trust that was given to me as very pleasant. You can create your own place in the team. Doing your own beans also makes you stronger stands in your shoes and also grows on a personal level. And yes, not everything always goes well, but you learn from that."
What do you need to work in the sales department?
"You have to be able to switch quickly and to improvise. In a dynamic environment, such as at Boerenbusiness if this is the case, ideas sometimes fly around your head, which means that you have to be able to work in a structured way and deal with some pressure. You play chess on several boards at the same time and that makes the work fun in my opinion."
"Flexibility is very important in this work, both at the office and towards your customers. It starts with building a good relationship, coming up with a great project or campaign together is the ultimate goal. If I have been able to help a customer with an issue and he leaves the house with a satisfied feeling because of my advice and guidance, then my goal has been achieved."
Your customers come from agribusiness. Do you have experience in this sector?
"I am a farmer's daughter from the Flevopolder. I now live in the city and I am no longer active in the sector. Growing up on a farm helps me in my work. This allows me to understand the customer better in some areas. Farmer's descent is certainly not a must, I also have colleagues who are not from the sector and I do not notice any difference when it comes to the execution of the work."
