Fighting phytophthora on sandy and valley soil

June 10, 2019

In the potatoes on sandy and valley soils, an agent against alternaria is usually added to the phytophthora spraying several times in the second half of the season. You can save on the costs of controlling alternaria and phytophthora on sandy and valley soils and at the same time benefit from a better and longer-lasting effect.

Now opt for ease of use and save approximately €5 to €10 per hectare per spraying by using the '2-in-1 agent' Carial®Star. By using Carial Star you prevent both alternaria and phytophthora. With a potato area of 50 hectares and 3 applications (depending on what you usually use) this results in a saving of €750 to €1.500.

How do you do that?
What do you have to do for this? Almost nothing! Instead of mixing in a separate remedy against alternaria, start from mid-July with Carial Star 0,6 liters per hectare, alternating with your usual phytophthora remedy. What do you get? An excellent effect against alternaria and phytophthora, less mixing and more ease of use due to a liquid product in a low dosage.

What is Carial Star? Carial Star contains 2 strong and well-known active ingredients.

  • Mandipropamid 250 grams per litre, known from Revus®, a strong remedy against phytophthora with good rain resistance.
  • Difenoconazole 250 grams per litre, the active ingredient of the most commonly used drug in the fight against alternaria.

Because you use 20% more difenoconazole when using Carial Star (0,6 liters per hectare of Carial Star instead of 0,5 liters per hectare of the standard product), you obtain a better and longer-lasting effect. Advantages:

  • Good and proven action against both diseases.
  • Extra ease of use and no restrictions for use in groundwater protection areas.
  • An attractive cost saving.
