Interfeed is a leading supplier of animal nutrition. Price fluctuations are increasing in this international market. Risk management plays an increasingly important role in day-to-day business operations. That is why Interfeed asked DCA to set up a training course on risk management.
This training explains what risk management entails and how you can visualize the most important risks in the feed market.
Markets are becoming increasingly global and are increasingly influencing each other. The political situation in China plays just as much a role as the dollar exchange rate or a drought around the Black Sea.
Price fluctuations are expected to increase. This also increases the need to manage these risks. Good risk management is becoming increasingly important.
Risk is actually an outcome of the probability of something happening and its consequence. However you look at it, your own attitude towards risk also plays a major role.
Risk can be divided into personal, political, production, price and financial risk. These are covered in detail in the training. Just like the different ways of managing risk. Particular attention is paid to price risk and the possibilities of hedging this with forward contracts and with futures that are traded worldwide. Interactive sessions teach how to apply these types of contracts in Interfeed's business operations.
After the training, the Interfeed team is better able to recognize and name the risks. But also what action should be taken if various risks present themselves. Furthermore, they now have in-depth knowledge of forward and futures markets. The information from these markets gives them extra knowledge when it comes to future price movements. If desired, they can act accordingly by taking positions in these markets and thus manage their price risk. The average rating for this course is 8.6.
