The last SDE+ subsidy round will start in October. That is why this is an interesting moment for agricultural entrepreneurs to apply for a subsidy under the current conditions.
The SDE+ subsidy (Stimulering Renewable Energy Production) consists of a fee per generated unit (kWh) of electricity. This subsidy is specific to large consumers (with a connection larger than 3x80 amps) and is valid for 15 years. In addition, there is a roof area of at least 10 m2 required.
The government has made a limited budget available for this subsidy. Therefore, it is first come, first served. It is therefore advisable not to wait too long with the application if you are interested. Would you like to know more about solar panels with the SDE+ subsidy? Click here for more information.
New: transport indication
Due to the new and mandatory transport indication, it is recommended to initiate a subsidy application as soon as possible. The transmission indication must indicate that transmission capacity is available on the electricity network of the location for which subsidy is requested.
Due to this extra check, it should be possible to actually install more subsidy projects. It happens too often that projects that have been awarded a subsidy are not installed because the electricity grid is at its maximum capacity. That subsidy will then remain unused. The government wants to prevent this by having an extra check (the transport indication) done in advance.
SDE++ 2020
The year 2019 is the last year in which the SDE+ subsidy exists in its current form. From the year 2020, the SDE+ will be broadened, under the name Sustainable Energy Transition Incentive Scheme (SDE++). In addition to renewable energy, CO2-reducing techniques eligible for subsidy. This means that the subsidy will be used more widely. Instead of 2 opening rounds per year, as in recent years, there will probably only be 1 opening round.
