The farmers no longer make any concessions in the nitrogen policy. This is what Sieta van Keimpema, the spokesman for the Farmers Defense Force, said on Wednesday, October 16 in The Hague at the national farmers' protest. The group, the organizer of the event, demands that the cabinet's nitrogen policy is completely off the table.
"If that doesn't happen, we'll be back here in 2 weeks," said Van Keimpema. However, she mainly focused on taking up the latent space, which is labeled as theft. "No one would allow the empty rooms of our house to be taken away. That's what happens." She is clear about the solution: "Solve the paper problems you have caused yourself."
Pig farmer Johnny Hogenkamp added this on stage: "How sad that on October 1 was heard, but not listened. Schouten offended the farmers by doing this. We are more than tired of all those rules."
Threshold up
Mark van den Oever, founder Farmers Defense Force, confirms that the organization wants to organize another protest in 2 weeks if the cabinet sticks to the current policy. "Our demand is that we want the Belgian or the German model." In those models, the threshold value of nitrogen is much higher.
Van den Oever is very pleased with the turnout. Farmers have flocked to The Hague en masse. "The turnout is twice as much." According to him, 'a few thousand' farmers stay overnight in The Hague. A farmer/citizen debate is also on the agenda on Thursday 17 October. According to Van Keimpema, this is a saving grace from the farmers for the nuisance they have caused.
Tractor symbol of resistance
Thierry Baudet, party leader of the Forum of Democracy, and Theo Hiddema, also addressed the farmers. Baudet repeated the call he at Boerenbusiness did by arguing (like Van den Oever) for a higher threshold value for nitrogen. Hiddema in turn praised the farmers and spoke of the 'tractor as a symbol of resistance'. "Just make sure that that trigger isn't fodder for your political opponents to trick you."
Geert Wilders, the leader of the PVV, addressed the farmers with a variant of his infamous Moroccan statement. "Do you want more or less nitrogen rules?" he started his speech. After a loud 'less' came the response "Then we'll arrange that." Wilders called on farmers to continue with the demonstration. "The future of your company and your children is in danger. There is no better reason to protest than that."
He also pointed out that nitrogen emissions from agriculture have already fallen dramatically in recent years. "Why is nobody talking about that? We don't have a problem with nitrogen, but with politicians who want to kill the peasantry."

Doesn't matter @Maxwell, in the end the left did it anyway......
Geert and Thierry started stirring up the crowd like flies this afternoon, as if they had once done something for the farmers (on the contrary with their nexit ideas: no subsidies and export market).
Maxwell, get to work boy. Instead of knowing everything better here.
Maybe a world will open up for you.
At least if someone wants such a sad horn.
there is no nitrogen problem! first create nature reserves everywhere with tax money, and now the farmers have to leave with tax money. It should be calculated what this left-wing madness costs. Just trying to kill 2 important sectors, agriculture and construction, what are we doing?

@Zuidboer
Is there a kernel of truth in yes, populism comes in all shapes and sizes. Also left. I want to point out that politics is more complicated than "everyone who doesn't like me is leftist"
how lucky we are that Maxwell gives us the right insights, but I don't understand if he knows everything so well, he doesn't pick it up himself????????
