Ministry: Deleting nature reserves is not allowed by the EU

19 October 2019 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 19 comments

The Ministry of Agriculture quickly put an end to the idea of scrapping Natura2000 areas to alleviate the nitrogen problem. Within the European Union, it is legally nailed down so much that, according to the ministry, nothing can be done about it.

Rudy Rabbinge, emeritus professor and member of the Remkes Committee, which provides the cabinet with nitrogen advice, released a balloon on friday to remove a number of small Natura2000 areas from the list. "You can hardly maintain that these are real nature reserves." When asked whether this is possible, the answer from the ministry is clear: 'no'.

Also moving an area is not an option. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the European Court of Justice offers only 2 options to get rid of a Natura2000 area. Firstly, a scientific error must have been made when designating a Natura 2000 site. Second, the conservation goals must be unattainable, and this must not be caused by government negligence to protect the area.

None of the Dutch Natura2000 areas meet these criteria, the ministry said. However, this conclusion has led to a considerable discussion on Twitter, with many users having a different opinion than the ministry.

Here in this small piece of text there are already four essential truths...... What do we do with them???

Just push it out in front of us again until the population no longer takes it at all??

Or are we going to solve it???

1) An error in the designation of a number of small Natura2000 areas.

2) You cannot maintain in the future that these are real nature reserves.

3) The nature conservation goals are unattainable.

4) Government Negligence.

Do something about the government, because with a few farmers less you really won't solve this!!
West Brabant 19 October 2019
However, eliminating farmers is not a problem.
Thomas 19 October 2019
Eliminating farms that have been operating for hundreds of years is certainly not a problem. The EU is trolling our country, Envy...?

I don't think Brussels does not allow it, they don't want to be here, blame others, it shouldn't have come to this from Brussels, but they did that themselves
Roy 20 October 2019
You can also say to Brussels, it is not feasible, we made a mistake and we will correct it in the Netherlands. If you don't agree, sorry.
Brussels doesn't allow it, it's always that easy.
The non-repayment of loans by Greece is also not allowed, but eventually happens.
Bob 20 October 2019
The best boy in the class and stay.
Just withdraw Natuurmonumenten subsidy of 1,1 billion and you will get rid of the nature reserves by itself
Bob 20 October 2019
That 1,1 billion can go to construction

This message came a little too quickly, the government normally needs months for such statements, you can already see that there is no will.
That's what you get with a government made up of almost all freeloaders, but few of the administrators would make it in the real world.

We Europe are jealous of the most efficient clean sustainable agriculture, livestock and fishing that the Netherlands has. We'll make it smaller, so we can fill that gap.

The only thing that is allowed of Europe, for as long as it exists, is dock, never jump around within the inflated rule and let in many beautiful people who will determine our future.

Let's all hope the British pull the plug, others will soon follow. The stupid Belgians (????) with their headquarters in Brussels have no place to go with their open economy. Lucky bastards they are...hmm.
The Netherlands is also going out, The Hague doesn't know yet.

The ship is sinking, the music is still playing and the bar is (still) open. HU long yet?
Groningen 21 October 2019
Last week during the emergency debate in Groningen, Staghouwer said that reducing nature reserves is not possible. However, he was interrupted by a councilor who was alderman of a municipality near the mudflats at the time. At the time, the mudflats were designated as Natura 2000 with the condition that it should not become an external economic obstacle. It seems to me that we have now arrived at this point and why should this not now be a condition for a Natura 2000 site to expire? Has this been further investigated?
shoemakers 1 21 October 2019
The corrupt officials do this with everything they want to push through without good substantiation, it's okay, it's without obligation, until it has the title, then it is fixed and can no longer give way to anything
January 21 October 2019
We should focus more on parties that are more against the measures of Brussels that further push us against our will into a corner that they want . And tell me we don't agree, let's do our thing.
Pieter 21 October 2019
Overcrowded geese population is a negligent government policy.
little nature reserve has 50.000 kg per day of manure and the rest is the first fart in the water in the morning.
