Agricultural collective will work on nitrogen plan

31 October 2019 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 7 comments

Farmers Defense Force (FDF) plans to present an Agricultural Collective next week, which will work on a sector-wide plan to achieve nitrogen reduction with financial compensation. According to the organization, this collective of agriculture minister Carola Schouten can take the lead here.

Farmers Defense Force made the announcement in a statement. The organization already made it clear last week to have reached an agreementt with a large part of the Dutch farmers' advocates to act jointly in the nitrogen dossier. This association has been given the temporary name Agricultural Collective. According to FDF, the collective consists of only 'representatives of the farmer and for the farmer' and will have an independent chairman. FDF will announce who this will be later.

Public plan
The Agricultural Collective in formation has convened a meeting for next week in which the definitive composition of the organization will be announced. FDF says it is taking the lead in this and "striving for a constructive club with the largest possible following." The organization says that the collective's plan will be made public and submitted to Minister Schouten.

FDF warns the minister in advance that it will not accept 'cherry picking' from the nitrogen plan in the making. In other words, only removes those elements that suit her. 'Clear agreements must be made about the implementation of the plan.' It is striking that FDF declares that the Agricultural Collective in formation may take the lead from Schouten. This means that LTO Nederland is no longer the first discussion partner in this file. According to the previous statement from FDF, various sections of LTO also participate in the Agricultural Collective.

More than just nitrogen
Whether the Agricultural Collective will also remain active as a federation of joint representatives after the nitrogen dossier is an interesting question in that regard. In the consultation that Farmers Defense Force had with Minister Schouten last Wednesday (30 October), other points were also discussed, such as extra compensation for mink farmers and the crop protection products policy.

It is not clear whether LTO Dairy Farming and NAJK are completely sidelined or whether they will also play a role in the Agricultural Collective. The Dutch dairy sector, including these two farmers' organisations, was planning to make its own proposal to reduce nitrogen last week, but withdrew it. after major protest from farmers and other advocates again in. The so-called Ammonia Taskforce that the chain parties had set up for this purpose, immediately fell apart due to disagreements.

Primary manure separation in the cattle sheds can also result in a significant reduction of ammonia. In addition, the livestock farmer can have 2 different fertilizers at his disposal, for better utilization and efficiency in fertilization.
To make this possible, transition funds will have to be created to replace slatted floors at an accelerated pace, especially in dairy farming.

All farmers should not want this nonsense. This nonsense of innovation will make the entire sector bleed to death!! and becomes "banana republic drugia holandia" eastern bloc 2.0

The plan of the collective ....... But how can you make a plan without good grades???? We are just like the government! They (the government) put the ball in your court because they are desperate.....

First you have to calculate and measure. Everything, including what solid floors do for nitrogen, what you can do with feed, with air scrubbers, and with all the other systems I've seen worn in recent days. Some driven by despair, some by monetary gain, others by arrogance.

Only when we have all that clear can we start talking. Otherwise we look like the government ourselves, they also meet all day without facts and in the end they just do something... Because yes, something must come out of all those expensive meetings!

So you first need to know how much nitrogen all systems use per unit. How much nitrogen is emitted from a farmyard, how far it descends from a farmyard. If, just like in Denmark, it is only 300 mtr. from the yard, it also saves fertilizer. How much it will make a difference if we all no longer use fertilizers, etc., etc.

Only when we know all that can we start talking and make a plan. I am very curious about the results.... and I like to be surprised! I personally believe that we can only achieve this by deleting all parks as nature reserves. Only allow the Waddenzee, De Hoge Veluwe and the Biesbosch, for example, to exist and keep everything further. Don't get me wrong..... I'm a farmer, so a nature person, the parks can all stay with me.

All people are allowed to recreate to their heart's content, but with other rules than "nature", it is not!!!

But do the math correctly..... The concrete grids may not be made here, for example, otherwise you will get nitrogen! So they have to be imported.

And also include how much clover absorbs in nitrogen, etc. etc.
Good luck!!

I have a solution to the nitrogen and other environmental problems in agriculture. Halving the livestock and switching to agro-ecology farming system.

very appropriate and I think the solutions for everyone!!! ALSO the farmers

@pipi(o)

And you're moving to Ethiopia to milk cows there?
1. There is no dairy with knowledge
2. Infrastructure is missing
3. There is no stable politics, there is no enforcement
4. The ground must be prepared, then you are 10 years further if all goes well
5. Farmers with knowledge have to settle there for a while
6. As soon as people with knowledge leave there, the decay will be great. Disclipline, training and enforcement are lacking in those countries.
7. I can go on like this.
8. As long as money is pumped in it will be fine.

Don't be silly and maintain and grow production here. Nowhere in the world are products made so safely. Let's keep production here, close together in a fantastic infrastructure.

And then? In 30 years? The Netherlands has since been banned from the world market. Well congratulations!

We also have to pay close attention to what we are going to agree on. Ammonia for which action has been taken by installing an air scrubber. In my opinion, a sustainable floor does not need to be cut again for external metering. Also the rights do not have to be taken. After all, the animal place associated with that right is already sustainable.

A company that then wants to expand can then take over the ammonia, animal rights and possibly stable meters in a sale without a discount. Stay awake and test all arrangements against a future perspective!
