The jury of the Boerenbusiness Awards has nominated 5 companies with their product or service for the Agribusiness Award. We will announce these in random order. Now contender number 1: CRV with 'Fokken op Maat'.
Maaike de Vries, product marketing manager at CRV, received the innovation on Tuesday afternoon at the 'Hippekoeien' meeting location in Didam, Gelderland. The breeding organization had coincidentally organized an international brainstorming session on this dairy farm.
'Steering on breeding goal'
De Vries is pleased with the nomination. "From CRV, we strive for continuous improvement of the cattle herd. With Fokken op Maat, we take breeding to a higher level by mapping the breeding value of a cow on 60 different characteristics (such as milk production, udder or claw health). dairy farmers can, on the basis of genetic predisposition, steer towards their breeding goal and select well-founded young stock."
De Vries sees the nomination for the Agribusiness Awards as a valuable recognition for Fokken op Maat. How high she estimates the chances of winning, she leaves in the middle. "That is ultimately up to the professional jury, although we are of course convinced about the advantages and the innovative character of our product."
