The 5 nominations for the Agribusiness Award

8 November 2019 - Redactie Boerenbusiness

Five companies with their product or service have been nominated for the very first Agribusiness Award. To get the award, an initiative of Boerenbusiness, 41 companies and organizations had registered. The winner of the Agribusiness Award will be announced on Wednesday 18 December at the National Economic Agricultural Congress.

The independent jury, led by Aalt Dijkhuizen, ultimately nominated five entries for a final round for a chance to win the award. These are in no particular order:

  1. CRV with Tailor-made Breeding
With Tailor-made breeding CRV takes breeding to the next level by mapping the breeding value of a cow on 60 different characteristics (such as milk production, udder or claw health). This allows dairy farmers, based on genetic predisposition, to steer towards their breeding goal and select well-founded young stock.

  2. CowManager
CowManager has developed a cow monitoring system by inventing a specific ear sensor technology. This allows the movements of the ear and the ear temperature to be measured and registered at any time. For example, sick cows can be identified 1 to 2 days earlier, CowManager says, than the dairy farmer can see with his own eyes.

  3. AgriSystem
With the EnterConversionMonitor By linking important data such as feed intake, growth and feed conversion, the pig farmer can have information available on a daily basis, which he can use to manage his business. According to AgriSyst, this can lead to a significant improvement in yield for the pig farm.

  4. GEA
The M6850 System from GEA offers the possibility of applying cell count monitoring of the milk per quarter on a dairy farm. The measurement takes place without the tapping of milk or other costs per sample. This allows a dairy farmer to quickly detect any form of mastitis, both clinical and subclinical.

  5. Dacom Farm Intelligence
In cloud farm arable farmers and contractors can view data from sensors, drones, satellites and machines. These can also be linked to automatic crop registration, which is easy for the user in question. With Cloudfarm, Dacom wants to reduce the step towards precision farming for agricultural entrepreneurs.

The jury considered the following criteria in its assessment. The submission must be an ingenious improvement or service, contribute a significant amount to an agricultural entrepreneur's business and profitability, be available and proven in the field, and have great potential.

The five companies can present their product live to the jury on Friday 15 November in a pitch to the editors of Boerenbusiness in Lelystad. The eventual winner will be announced by Aalt Dijkhuizen at the National Economic Agricultural Congress in Amersfoort, which was held by Boerenbusiness is being organised. Tickets are still available for this.
