Coalition agrees on nitrogen package

12 November 2019 - Wouter Baan - 10 comments

The coalition parties VVD, CDA, D66 and the ChristenUnie have reached an agreement on the package of measures to solve the nitrogen problem. The exact plans will be announced in a letter to Parliament on Tuesday 12 November or Wednesday 13 November.

The agreement has been confirmed by Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the group leaders of the various parties. "We are out", reported Rob Jetten (D66). Jetten calls the measures sensible. This is because housing construction can then be started again. Klaas Dijkhof (VVD) is not happy with the plans, but according to him it is necessary to break the deadlock.

Low-nitrogen feed
One possible measure related to the agricultural sector is the mandatory introduction of low-nitrogen feed, as Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) previously stated. Also, the speed limit on many highways will probably go back to 100 kilometers per hour. Sources confirm to the NOS that in the evening and at night you do not have to take your foot off the accelerator. The VVD, as a proponent of speeding, would have enforced this.

More later.

This is in response to it Boerenbusiness article:

"It is no longer allowed to live on credit when it comes to taking measures that reduce nitrogen emissions," says Carola Schouten.

Ok Carola, just count that for us.... or should RIVM do that???
Ton Westgeest 13 November 2019
RIVM has calculated that driving from 130 to 100 kilometers per hour gives a reduction of 0,2%.
RIVM says that even though all farmers are gone, there is still a nitrogen problem
Then you have to start thinking like politics.....because then there will only be a solution....Give all "nature" areas a different status! Because it is not real nature after all.

Don't remove it, just let it exist as a recreation park.
Only three parks, De Wadden, Hoge Veluwe and Biesbosch are left as nature parks.

This makes the Netherlands more beautiful than it used to be, there is work again and politicians should finally deal with the real problems. For example, the pollution they import and the waste....
The excesses that we have created, for example in the Oostvaardersplassen, because we call it "nature", can then be solved in a good way.

It is also crazy that with old age alone we blow more nitrogen, CO2 and air pollution into the air than we now lock the country for......

Talking politics about governing and leadership!!!!!!

Rutten says: "We have lived on credit for too long"....

Does he mean that we are polluting more than can be cleaned up and that before the consequences become more serious than they already are, we need to take a step back when it comes to polluting? So that we can do it again in a few years?
Or does he mean that we have to adjust our consumption behavior....?

Does he mean that we should enjoy less money that still has to be earned?

Does he mean that many people have far too much income while even more people have to live around or below the poverty line?

Does he mean that he will finally see that the ridiculously high incomes have to come down and that we all start minimizing?

Capitalism is causing ever-increasing misalignment.
The government debts are increasing, maybe not now, but believe me that we will soon enter a crisis again, and the private wealth of the happy few is increasing.
How can a world exist when there are individuals with growing wealth of hundreds (thousands) billions of dollars/euros while governments keep borrowing (Great example is Zuckerberg but there are many, many more)
Those individuals sit on mountains of money with which hunger and wars can be prevented.

But as a population we are no better. We use Facebook to gossip and get jealous or to arouse jealousy.
To judge and condemn....
And Marc Z rubs his hands.

We are greedy and always want more (on the backs of our children and grandchildren) because we are material/vacation hungry.

I no longer believe in humanity and the so-called good intentions of people and politics.

They are beasts. The elite is on the backs of the (modern) slaves.
The modern slave works himself to pieces and has to turn every dime.
The slave drivers (managers, directors, executives) have ridiculously high wages compared to the people who actually provide labor and production. The slave drivers are like NSB members of the elite.

How sad and pitiful we are as humans.

We suck the world empty and pollute it without thinking about our children and each other.....

Bah!!!

Edward there are many truths in what you say, but you can't do more than change your own behavior. Maybe give a good example...
People want more, more luxury, more holidays, more flying, more delicious food. The politicians want people to take a step back, but are they doing it themselves???
Edward 13 November 2019
Hi Ton,
You're right! Greed is in everyone, including me :-(
The government is taking advantage of that greed by creating the opportunity to take out loans so that we citizens can already enjoy money that we still have to work for and many people have to really toil.
Heavy work, sometimes in shifts to keep the 24-hour economy going.
In this way we sell our freedom and maintain that bank executives can discuss with their golf buddies while playing golf, with a hot potato in their mouth, what kind of yacht they are planning to buy and... oh well. , it makes me sick.
We even sell loans (eg Maxima does her best for this) to people in developing countries so that they can start a business and then repay the loan with interest. Many of those poor people don't make it and end up poorer than they were....

As long as we as citizens continue to borrow and remain meat books, we have no right to speak.

Borrowing makes you guilty!!!

What can you expect from a government that is indebted (almost all western governments have debts of hundreds or thousands of billions of euros).

Go with the flow, you often hear that said. Swimming against the current, which is heading towards the abyss, is hard.
Sometimes I get dragged into that stream of individualists, materialists, egoists, narcissists and lonely people, only to realize again how disturbed we humans are.

You can tell I'm frustrated. In general that is not so bad, but after such a statement by Rutten this morning, that we have lived on credit for too long, I have to vent my frustration somewhere.
Thank you for your response. I will now return to the order of the day.
Ton Westgeest 13 November 2019
Get rid of the frustration Edward, there's nothing you can do about it. They all say it's five to twelve, I think it's well past twelve.

When you see programs like Zemlya and After Us the Deluge, you see that there is no saving it. But very interesting how this society, although they have come to a very high civilization's point, can ruin themselves like this. Only the difference with previous civilizations such as Maya, Aztec, Chinese etc. is that they have not destroyed the entire planet...........

If you now see the pollution of the wealth around you everywhere .... An hour of singles day at Alibaba 12 billion packages with pollution. We will just continue deforestation for biomass. We will just continue deforestation for palm oil. We will continue with deforestation for soy for animal feed, but especially for the vegan industry, which will become many times bigger....

Then this civilization will do that!!

Has Ton Westgeest escaped from an institution for mentally ill farmers?
OMG what can that ignorant good-for-nothing talk out of his ass. One nonsense idea after another, claim or retarded point of view??
I really wonder if that man ever finished primary school because apparently he hasn't learned a lot.
Fortunately, there are some smart people here and there on various farmer discussion websites, but unfortunately not many
It's a shame there are so many misinformed people living in the countryside.
That bodes well for the future of Dutch agriculture and farmers.
What a sad intention.
Fortunately, there is a very small but growing group of enlightened organic farmers who do understand what good farm choices are and who in the long run can guide Dutch farmers in a truly sustainable sustainable agriculture!!??
Down with the stupid farmers NOW!!!!!!
GO TO CANADA TOGETHER TO EMIGATE TO MAKE A LOT WITH YOUR MEGA FARMS THERE!!!
until, of course, they chase you out of there too.

Ton Westgeest, despite the fact that he may not be highly educated, has more knowledge than you pippi, apparently you have never been able to mean anything in your life to your fellow man, and now you find it necessary to proclaim the greatest possible nonsense as truth , I've told you before, get started with your great ideas yourself, don't bother us with them, and if you are really as good as you say you will undoubtedly get followers, but I'm sure you will have a chance mission starts, apparently you too, otherwise you would have been busy already
