Not Schouten, supermarket is afraid of empty shelf

6 December 2019 - Redactie Boerenbusiness - 40 comments

A meager Christmas dinner threatens now that farmers are considering shutting down the food supply in the Netherlands. Minister Carola Schouten (Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality) is not yet concerned, but the supermarkets are.

Schouten says that he is in talks with the Agricultural Collective about the nitrogen approach. However, Farmers Defense Force (FDF) feels because of the minister , ignored and threatens to block distribution centers in the run-up to Christmas. Schouten tells the ANP not to worry.

The CBL, the branch organization of supermarkets, does take this threat seriously. According to the organization, blocking actions during the busiest time of the year are very inconvenient, with the consumer ultimately bearing the brunt. That is why the CBL calls on the cabinet to continue to talk to farmers and to look for solutions.

Monday night resolution
Incidentally, disrupting the food supply in the Netherlands is not the only weapon that FDF currently threatens with. The shutdown of the fuel supply and the blocking of border crossings are also mentioned. A combination of both is also possible. Monday evening the decision is made. Other action groups, including Grond in Verzet, may also join in.

By the way, farmers want to prevent the turkey from flying over Christmas. That is why FDF is in the process of drawing up a list of farm shops per province where consumers can buy their groceries.

This is in response to it Boerenbusiness article:

Schouten: CU, has to do with faith.
Supermarkets: are realistic.

shut down until the government falls.
hospitals excluded.

let the public notice what the current government wants: great chance of food on the receipt.
shoemakers 1 6 December 2019
this is a very nice development, all supermarkets empty, products directly from producer to consumer
Peter34 6 December 2019
the supermarkets advise the minister to keep in touch with the farmers. advice not to jeopardize profits.

When will the supermarkets even seriously sit down with the farmers themselves to get down to business?
CO2, manure, PFAS, N these are all very difficult questions, especially because parties such as PvdA, GL and D66 simply want to kill agriculture, because no compromise is acceptable
But the pricing, which is dictated in particular by the supermarkets, is the survival of companies, another major point of contention. WHEN will supermarkets enter into discussions with the sector to arrive at a reasonable distribution of the cake? You don't need a minister for that. A heart for the agricultural business. Or do you just not care about that any more than the parties mentioned?

It's just annoying that our own sales are also stagnating! Can we get even more angry at our people (who arrange sales) who, according to many, are not doing well. Are the prices even lower?
??? !!! 6 December 2019
no jan,
people start hoarding: extra turnover.
then, after the fall of the cabinet, redesign with new prices.

new prices, because the farmer simply needs it.
in short: the ideal moment for retail to participate. (can immediately participate in the promotions)

and for those who are lucky: Christmas with a buzz is always better than a turkey with your mother-in-law or son-in-law.

and for the believers: just switch to Muslim fasting: are you still religiously engaged.

If there are elections now, Klaver will become Prime Minister. Wise to prevent new elections coming!!
piet 6 December 2019
then the cabinet will fall under clover one day, nobody wants to work, in other words, the Netherlands fail...

Getting the government to resign is the stupidest thing you can aspire to. Then we will be in an impasse even longer!
Keep calm and discuss Agricultural collective! Don't be fooled by the FFD-ers!

Here, 13 hectares of grassland have just been sold to three farmers, all three of whom are very fond of the FFD. EUR 95.000 to 100.000 per hectare and oh oh but complain... and make consumers afraid that we will soon have a starvation winter because there are no farmers left. Speaking of framing... I'm distancing myself from this.
chubby farmer 6 December 2019
Hahaha what those farmers do not think. That if they don't deliver, supermarkets are immediately empty. What bullshit.
And then that next stupid plan, blocking supermarkets over Christmas. If you want to spend the holidays in front of the supermarket, fine. Forty-five minutes of people get their food at home before the holidays. Proves again that there is little sense in the average rebellious farmer.
And best of all, blockades of supermarkets will 100% certainly lead to violence. And then you really are in the minority. Are you finally getting what you deserve?
Success!
Farmer Dieuwke 6 December 2019
Then the already waning sympathy for farmers is completely over. Where is your mind. I'm furious with those hotheads.
Hosternokke 7 December 2019
Hey Bolle, I think there's something in that ball that doesn't belong or there's nothing!! , that we block exactly with the holidays come on say? What do we earn then? We are furious at such acorns, but would already start hoarding, we will meet you there !! Can you explain it on the spot .

Totally agree!

The first time with all those tractors in the hague that gave me goosebumps when I saw that on TV a word great then again okay still good also in leeuwarden and groningen I can imagine but one should not exaggerate
If they had tackled the nzo and lto and rabobank sooner, all this would not have had to be done
The biggest problem is that the costs are getting more and more expensive, but the milk price is not keeping up
Fortunately, the milk price is not too high either, because then the BIG grabs would have continued and the smaller family businesses would have all gone.

Farmer Dieuwke 7 December 2019
We must block the head offices of supermarket chains, Rabobank, VVD, CDA, LTO, Ministry of Economic Affairs, etc.: the real causes of the misery in the past and present. Then I join. Don't hit the civilians.
Pieter 7 December 2019
Thanks farmers! With the Price Act, fair minimum prices can be set. Why not get this law off the ground.
Narcos 7 December 2019
Unfortunately, our governing elite has proven to be far from reality and living in their own bubble of 10% like-minded people.
This Randstad has turned truth into policy and embraces the green armada as a business model and a good choice. This is partly to minimize other bigger problems.
The nitrogen problem is a created problem that forces interests, for example; industry and governments do not have to comply with anything and do not need a permit.
The agricultural sector is doing very well compared to 15 years ago, but that doesn't count.
Policy makers won't listen, so action is needed to demonstrate the seriousness of the errors.
Farmers will not be fooled, grab the chance to intervene now and the normal Dutch person with common sense will go along.
Remco 7 December 2019
Lay flat, show balls. It's done now.
No talk of sympathy or anything. Just do it.

Now you can make a fist, now choices have to be made, now is the time. Right now!
Skirt 7 December 2019
The 'government' has tricked us with this nonsense (nitrogen and pfas etc) it is a diversion from the real problems.
The disruptive trade agreements, the financial system on the brink of collapse, the bankruptcy of the EU as a democratic system, mass immigration, undermining NGOs with highly questionable agendas that pay climate strikers by the hour.
Taking these actions on the consumer is grist to the mill of corrupt politics, we have to fight smarter by involving the sectors outside agriculture and by keeping the consumer on our side through large-scale professional information provision.

Can we immediately talk to Schouten about her votes against for an extension of mancozeb? It is not just about all nitrogen measures. It also concerns all the left-wing policy á la Groen Links/D`66 and the Party for the Animals, with which it puts Dutch arable farming at a disadvantage compared to the surrounding countries.
This puts arable farming in an impossible position. The first demonstration on October 1 was about the entire agricultural policy. Now it seems to focus only on the nitrogen problem.
Farmer Dieuwke 7 December 2019
As a PvdA member, Kjol has come to an understanding. Yes, everything is better in Russia and USA.... Go fast now you can, then take PVV & FvD with you. Keep us informed! Good luck.
shoemakers 1 7 December 2019
Yet Kjol is 1000x wise as you
shoemakers 1 7 December 2019
You will not hold your own with your ideas in russia, nor in usa, you do need the Pak Van De Ander party, or another demolition party
minister 7 December 2019
Letting our cabinet resign is simply the best thing, the economy has to break down as soon as possible, I can still get some nice redundancy pay while I am offered a new left-wing pickpocket job.
Farmer Dieuwke 8 December 2019
KJOL, a left-wing rascal at the time, is now a populist with blinders on all the presidents of Russia and the USA. ...Probably they put him like a horse behind the cart. So a sponsored tool without its own opinion.

Better tackle the left-wing parties (pvda, d66, cu, g-left, sp). It is important that the right-wing parties work together and make the country healthy again. Hopefully there will finally be an end to the climate, CO02, nitrogen and fpas nonsense with which the country is currently being flooded. It is also important that the media and education are cleaned up. These are the basis of the continuous brainwashing that the people get.

Apparently I have touched a very sensitive nerve with Dieuwke, are you perhaps sponsored by an NGO with a very debatable agenda to influence this forum as a 'troll'?
jpkievit 8 December 2019
For 50 years, supermarkets have staged bangers. The growers are not paid by the supermarkets according to the value of the growers' products. Consequence 80 hours of work earn a minimum wage and 45 years mortgage charges on top of that it is more than necessary to take very hard actions to maintain a profitable sector

Canceled the Donald Duck because BB forum makes me laugh a lot more!
Farmers are the clowns of the future.
Good day.

Roy 8 December 2019
What does that refer to Gerrit? The fact that very stupid left-wing people want to destroy the entire agricultural and construction sector is a very serious matter! And for what? for a weed nature park where ticks and other vermin reign supreme?
Farmer Dieuwke 8 December 2019
Is Kjol an accomplice of Putin, an old contact from the past?! Despicable way of causing trouble. Perhaps never milked a cow and worked from 6 to 6.
Skirt 8 December 2019
Look at the bigger picture, climate disaster approaching according to the politicians and 'scientists'. Inciting the population and creating panic in the context of the 'environmental problem'.
Another example of a double agenda is the sudden complete standstill of the construction of wind turbines in Germany under the guise of noise nuisance for a few thousand people, while an enormous amount of green electricity is needed for the electrification of the vehicle fleet.
Everyone is continuously sent into the reed in a clump and milked out, how long does one stay seeing blind??

as long as there are so many parties in parliament, there will be no government in this land of compromises
Farmer Dieuwke 8 December 2019
Good thing, making compromises. After all, we are not in Russia. As farmers we will have to get used to making compromises, now that the "farmer's parties" CDA and VVD no longer have the say.
Farmer Dieuwke 8 December 2019
Kjol, echo of VESTAS... Windmills are not the boss, they are people. Companies and things should not inconvenience other people is my conviction. The following applies to my company: no stench, no pollution, no noise: at least 50% below the norm.
Skirt 8 December 2019
@Dieuwke, as a subversive NGO 'troll' you have not added anything today.
People who are a nuisance to other people is by far the biggest problem at the moment, just go down 50%.
Menno 9 December 2019
Die Boerin Dieuwke is a nice and hot farmer's wife, if you sneeze on it she hisses already.
Farmer Dieuwke 9 December 2019
Kjol, you talk about everything, but not about the farmer and his problems. I'm going to milk now, gives me peace
Skirt 9 December 2019
Your solution to make compromises with unreliable subjects and think that you will solve it for the farmers is really too small, even very naive.
1 stroke of the pen and everyone is back on the street with their bare ass.
Total popular resistance by taking off the blinders has a chance of success, so involve the resistance broadly on harnesses and other sectors.
Pieter 9 December 2019
Kjol, I as a future farmer and my father as an experienced don't understand your revolutionary way of acting. This is not in the interest of the farmers, nor in the national interest. In practice you will meet us and we will stop you. We do not do this in the Netherlands. Would farmer Dieuwke be right that you are paid by Putin? Wouldn't surprise us. The AIVD should be informed of this.
