On Wednesday 29 January, Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Agriculture Minister Carola Schouten will have an informal discussion with farmers and nature organizations about the nitrogen crisis.
The purpose of the conversation is to get on the same wavelength and to brainstorm about possible solutions. The conversation will take place in the Radio Kootwijk building, in the middle of the Veluwe. Prior to the meeting, Rutte and Schouten first visit a dairy farm. The ministers then go 'on safari' with forest rangers.
The cabinet benefits from quickly having structural solutions to the nitrogen crisis. Next Wednesday, February 5, Rutte and Schouten will also resume talks with the Agricultural Collective. Action group Farmers Defense Force has farmers summoned to travel en masse to The Hague that day. They believe that the government is not keeping to the commitments made at the end of 2019.
