House of Representatives approves license plate for tractors

29 January 2020 - Jeannet Pennings - 12 comments

As expected, a majority of the House of Representatives has approved the introduction of the tractor license plate. This means that from 2025 a chain obligation will apply to agricultural vehicles that use public roads. Until then, a transition period applies.

The measure is part of the bill amending the Road Traffic Act 1994, which was passed in the House of Representatives last week debated† In the vote on Tuesday, January 28, only the PVV, SGP and Forum for Democracy were against; a large majority was in favour. The amendment by the VVD and the CDA was also adopted, including an evaluation provision in the law. This means that the costs and administrative burdens for entrepreneurs are evaluated afterwards.

With the bill, the Netherlands complies with the European MOT obligation for agricultural vehicles that can drive faster than 40 kilometers per hour. If the Senate also approves, a transition period will apply until 2025. All construction and agricultural vehicles must carry a registration plate from 2025 after the bill comes into effect. New tractors are immediately provided with a license plate.

speed increase
At the request of LTO Nederland, Cumela and Fedecom, the bill is also linked to a speed increase to 40 kilometers per hour. Farmers can then make more use of provincial roads and bypasses when they are opened up by provinces, municipalities and water boards. This should improve road safety.

Agricultural vehicles that want to make use of the speed increase, request an exemption or use provincial roads before 2025 will need a registration plate before 2025. The registration and registration requirement does not apply to agricultural vehicles that do not leave the yard.

What to do with an old tractor, which is prepared to clean the road once a year during harvest work?

Arable farming2.0 29 January 2020
Self-propelled vehicles such as combine harvesters and beet harvesters with a maximum speed of 20 km/h also have a license plate?
After all, these are also allowed to drive without in Germany

Oldtimer slower than 40kmh 29 January 2020
What will it mean for the old-timers who occasionally go on a day tour with the club? And (be able to) drive slower than 40 kmh

I think we need to get back on track for this, this is not at all in accordance with Europe's regulations, but an interpretation that goes beyond all limits

It's high time this was implemented. Older or currently unsuitable agricultural vehicles must also simply meet the requirements of the Dutch Traffic and Road Act.

During the next demonstration, all license plates of the tractor and with a Burka mask on the tractor. And no more stopping for legislatures!!! Push them off the road with a bump bumper in front of the tractor. As far as I'm concerned, the measure is full. I'm sick and tired of the legal mafia!!!

You are all getting screwed , watch out !!
License plate registration , road tax , insurance , the trailers and dump trucks are also taxed afterwards , because they also go on the road .
How you. it turns or turns, it will cost money again
until here and no further 30 January 2020
We have known for a long time that we are being screwed by the government, we recently took action for this, quite in large numbers, but let it be clear to everyone, we are not there yet, we still have a lot of work to do, TRIBUTE TO THE WARRIORS
