Nedato makes an entrance with its own small packaging

29 January 2020 - Jeannet Pennings - 1 reaction

Nedato is launching a new product line at the Fruit Logistica in Berlin at the beginning of February. With this, the potato cooperative is emphatically positioning itself, under its own name, on the market for small packaging.

Originally, Nedato from Oud-Beijerland focused on the sale of large packaging for table potatoes. Last fall, however, a new strategy announced where growth in all segments is paramount. This is being fulfilled with a new packaging line.

Broadening product range
The market segment for bulk packaging is shrinking due to a changing consumption pattern. “The growth in the market is in the smaller packaging and the processed potato segment,” says Carel van Buchem, general manager of Nedato. “We are therefore focusing more on other, especially smaller packaging of unprocessed potatoes and expanding our product range.”

Strengthening the current chips position in supplying the growing potato processing industry is also an important part of the strategy. The connection and cooperation with its own grower group is, in its own words, the strength and basis of Nedato. “We can achieve more through cooperation in the potato sector,” says Van Buchem.
