200 damage reports were received at insurer Interpolis due to storm Ciara. According to the insurer, that is not so bad, given the size of the storm. Meanwhile, the next storm is expected next weekend.
The 200 damage reports is the state of affairs as of February 10, the state of affairs as of February 11 was not yet clear. The total damage in euros is also still unclear. "Reports come from all over the country, although there was more damage to greenhouse horticulture companies in the west," says Adri Witlox of the agricultural office of Interpolis.
"A third of the damage was in greenhouse horticulture. The rest of the damage is very diverse. It concerns roofs, for example the translucent plates of sheds that are broken, but also damage to manure silos," says Witlox.
Next storm next weekend
The insurer's expert and appraisers are now on their way to assess the damage. Today it turned out that the next storm is already in the making on the Atlantic Ocean. While Ciara's aftereffects are still being felt, storm Dennis is expected this weekend. This storm seems to be getting less intense, according to Raymond Klaassen of Weerplaza in the AD.
