Boerenbusiness presents the Agribusiness Award for the second time this year. The price with which special achievements in the agricultural chain are put in the spotlight. One of the nominees for 2019 is GEA with selective drying every XNUMX minutes thanks to cell count monitoring. How are they doing now a year later?
One year after registering for the Boerenbusiness Agribusiness Award Times have changed, according to Jeroen Luiten, milking philosophy specialist at GEA. "We are still very enthusiastic about the product, but we also see that the market for milking machines and robots is somewhat cautious. Our milking robot is doing very well in terms of udder health and milk quality, so there is reluctance among existing users. Abroad, where the milk control lower than in the Netherlands, there is a lot of demand. We expect that Dutch users will also become more interested in our system in the future, partly because of the increasing pressure to further decrease the use of antibiotics. Then this system is an excellent tool."
Luiten: "Selective drying of dairy cows has been a concept in the Netherlands for some time, but we go further. With our udder health monitoring system, we offer the option of applying cell count monitoring per quarter of an hour. This means we are very close to every mastitis, both clinically and subclinically. ." The measurement takes place without the tapping of milk or other costs per sample.
Interesting exposure
Luiten looks back positively on the application for the Award. "We have experienced participating as an interesting and fun process. It is a great initiative that was presented objectively and broadly. The nomination also included an article and an interview in the studio, that piece of exposure was interesting for us."
