Boerenbusiness presents the Agribusiness Award for the second time this year. The price with which special achievements in the agricultural chain are put in the spotlight. One of the 2019 nominees is Dacom Farm Intelligence with Cloudfarm. How are they doing now a year later?
"Cloudfarm has come of age", that is the most important conclusion that Lud Uitdewilligen, Business Developer at Dacom, draws a year later. "Over the past year we have been busy developing the product. Especially when you look at AB lines, task cards and machine couplings, we have made great strides. We can now say that it has been a success in which we welcome more and more users."
Expand Marketing
"Now it's up to us to put even more emphasis on marketing. We want to show potential users with examples how Cloudfarm works and what benefits it brings. We registered for the Agribusiness Award at a fairly early stage of the product and that has certainly contributed to a bit of awareness. We are now working to expand that marketing."
Cloudfarm is a program that links precision farming to crop registration. In Cloudfarm, arable farmers and contractors can view data from sensors, drones, satellites and machines. These can also be linked to automatic crop registration, which is easy for the user in question. The company says it focuses on ease of use and that is not without reason. "We often hear that there is a threshold to start with precision farming. Many people think that this is immediately very difficult and requires a high investment. We at Dacom want to make the first step towards precision farming possible for everyone with Cloudfarm", reported Dacom in its application last year.
Dacom has had little trouble with the corona crisis so far. "As a company, we focus on digitization, both with our products and in the company itself. We work with online subscriptions, so that the work could continue for us. It is still difficult to estimate what the effect will be in the longer term. The agribusiness and food processors have of course been hit hard, the question is what impact this will have on investments in digitization in the long term," says Uitdewilligen.
Jury keeps you sharp
Uitdewilligen looks back with satisfaction on its participation in the Agribusiness Award. "We participated with healthy tension in the process, which also included a pitch for the professional jury and a video interview in the studio. It is precisely these elements that keep you on your toes. Many companies mainly look at product development, but the bit of market knowledge is also very important. important."
"The jury members each have their own expertise and view of the product, which makes it very interesting. An afternoon like this forces you to present the product well and also to explain the revenue model behind it. The feedback and the questions you get make you aware of the product and it helps you to sharpen up. Of course we would have loved to win the Award, but we have experienced all the attention and reactions you receive through participation as very positive. It is absolutely recommended to participate."
