Van Aaken and Vos sell a lot through FarmTrade

FarmTrade is growing and growing, and arable farmer Brian Vos and arable and dairy farmer Hans van Aaken from Westelbeers also notice this. Van Aaken used FarmTrade at an early stage and sold a 4-hectare block of red onions, John Deere tractor tires, eight calf igloos and seed potatoes via the platform. Vos is a seed potato grower from Espel and sold seed potatoes and a Linde forklift on FarmTrade. 

Van Aaken had not expected that the North Brabant company of Van Aaken would also sell its onions via FarmTrade. 'We grow 35 hectares of onions ourselves and we already have a good network of commission agents. But when we wanted to sell a parcel of red onions, our commission agents just didn't have a destination for it. So I put my 4-acre plot of red onions on FarmTrade. Within two days I got a call from a commission agent I didn't know yet and who happened to be looking for my volume for a new destination.'

The commissionaire paid a visit to Van Aaken and the deal was made. Fast, direct and without the intervention of new links. Van Aaken explains: 'Sometimes someone else has a little more interest in your plot than someone in your own network. You can find out in five minutes via FarmTrade. For some potatoes I already get more through the platform than through the current sales channels.'
