Meal box deliverer Hello Fresh proves that the corona crisis does not only have losers. The company saw its turnover rise again in the past quarter. In addition, the number of orders has more than doubled.
One of the consequences of the corona crisis is that people eat out less. More is being cooked at home and they also notice that at Hello Fresh. The meal box supplier saw the number of orders rise to a record 2020 million in the third quarter of 19,49. That is a more than doubling compared to 2019. When Hello Fresh had 9,11 million orders in the same quarter.
Turnover grows 120%
In 2019, those orders still came from 2,61 million customers. By the third quarter of this year, that number had risen to 5 million customers. As a result, Hello Fresh's turnover more than doubled in the third quarter. This amounted to €970,2 million, which represents a growth of 120%.
According to the company's CEO, Dominik Richter, the corona crisis has accelerated the trend to cook more at home. "We expect the trend to continue. Consumers continue to rely on online options to have meals and ingredients delivered to their homes. Many also continue to work from home and eat more meals at home."
Forecast revised upwards
For that reason, Hello Fresh has now revised its forecast for 2020 upwards for the third time this year. The company is now counting on a turnover growth of between 95% and 105%. Previously, an increase between 75% and 95% was assumed, but the first results of the fourth quarter show that the upward trend is continuing.
