Insight into the surface area is essential for spraying or fertilizing a plot. At Loonbedrijf Tamminga they know all about this. The Boer&Bunder data platform is therefore experienced as a handy tool.

With the more than 700.000 agricultural plots in the Netherlands that Farmer&Bunder can be found, Loonbedrijf Tamminga can easily and quickly consult the parcel data of customers. "In addition, we do not use all the functionalities that the platform offers," admits owner Jan Tamminga. "For us it is especially important how large a plot is. And insight into the type of soil is also relevant, for example if we are going to spread manure."

Tamminga's agricultural contracting company can be found in the northeast of Groningen, with branches in Harkstede and Zijldijk. The clientele mainly consists of companies from livestock farming and arable farming. "Beet cultivation and fertilization are the core business of our company," says Tamminga. "And we still do a lot of things around that, such as spraying crop protection products and ensiling grass."

Avoiding Sloppiness
Depending on the season, Loonbedrijf Tamminga employs 5 to 10 people, permanent employees and flexible workers. They make frequent use of Boer&Bunder. "Sometimes simply to know exactly where a plot is and to be able to navigate there," says Tamminga. "But other data is also collected from Boer&Bunder. This allows us to prevent carelessness."

Arable farmers often know quite exactly how large their plot is. This is not always the case with a livestock farmer.

According to the contractor, this may sometimes be the case when it comes to the surface area of a plot. "Agricultural farmers often know quite exactly how large their plot is. That is not always the case with a livestock farmer. If he says 1 hectare, it can also be 1,3 or 1,7 hectares. That is difficult if, for example, you have a field must spray and produce agent. If we have to act on instinct, as in the past, there is a great risk that we will have to make more or, on the contrary, have left over."

Insight into soil type
"It is useful to know in advance where you stand," Tamminga continues. "That's why we mainly use Boer&Bunder to find the surface area of plots." In addition, the information about the soil type may be relevant according to the entrepreneur. "In the case of applying solid manure, there are, for example, restrictions on the type of soil. The question is always what the specified soil type falls under. For example, is it sand or sandy peat? When in doubt, what the customer has written on paper always applies. has stood."

Tamminga and his employees use Boer&Bunder 90% of the time on their mobile. "That works well. However, a maximum of 2 employees can use the platform at the same time. As soon as one logs out, the other can log in. It would be nice if this happens automatically in the future when inactivity."
