Americans have rediscovered 'home cooking'. In research by the American market agency Hunter, 7 in 10 consumers indicate that they also cook at home more often after the corona crisis. In addition, 35% of Americans even indicate that they have developed a renewed passion for cooking.
Research firm Hunter writes that about 71% of consumers in the United States continue to actively cook at home after the corona crisis. The most frequently cited reasons are 'saving money' (67%), 'it's healthier' (56%) and 'it makes me feel good' (55%). According to the respondents, other advantages are that less food is wasted in this way.
A large proportion of American respondents (35%) also indicate that they have developed a renewed passion for cooking. In addition, many have invested in their kitchens by purchasing small appliances, such as single-use waffle irons and brewing machines, that they intend to continue using.
Other eating habits
Research by the International Food Information Council also shows that 85% of Americans have changed their eating habits recently. Although not everyone is equally interested in 'cooking in your own kitchen', many indicate that they like it better than before the pandemic. This group does, however, prefer to order meals online. A sector that has also made significant strides during the corona crisis.
