BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB) has won 1 seat according to the most recent forecast of the elections to the House of Representatives, based on 88% of the vote. The VVD wins big, D66 becomes the second party in the Netherlands with 24 seats. That is 3 less than last night (March 17) emerged from the exit poll.
The preliminary forecast of the ANP was published this morning at 6.30 am and can therefore be changed if the counting of votes continues. According to the forecast, the VDD has become the big winner of the elections with 35 seats. The party of Prime Minister Mark Rutte towers far above the other parties. This result is also good news for Jan Klink. The current alderman for economic affairs at the municipality of Wijdemerenvoor and the son of a dairy farmer, is in 35th place on the VVD list and is therefore directly in the House of Representatives.
Luis in the fur
Caroline van der Plas, leader of the BBB, will become a Member of Parliament according to this forecast. Opposite Boerenbusiness Van der Plas said he wanted to be a louse in the pelt for farmers and other people who live in the countryside. "First of all, I do not agree with the content of the program of the Party for the Animals, but what they do well: they have certain principles and they do not deviate from them. They have an enormous influence on the political agenda. "Animal welfare would never have become such a big topic for them. We want to do that for the countryside. That people think, just like with animal welfare: this is important. There are 8 million people in the region, who deserve representation."
Where D66 last night celebrated a great victory with 27 seats according to the exit poll, the party of party leader Sigrid Kaag is therefore going back 3 seats in the latest forecast. With 24 seats, the party of agricultural spokesman Tjeerd de Groot remains by far the second party in the Netherlands and therefore has a lot to do in future coalition talks. D66 is insisting on halving the Dutch livestock, so that the big question now is whether the party also wants to supply or demand the Minister of Agriculture on the basis of this result.
CDA hands in
A lot depends on who will be the third and perhaps fourth party in a future coalition. According to the preliminary forecast, VDD, D66 and CDA will reach a narrow majority in the Chamber of 76 seats. The CDA therefore seems to be the obvious third party in a coalition, but the Christian Democrats will lose 4 seats according to the forecast and will end up with 15 seats. The question is whether the CDA is prepared to take a seat in a cabinet with this result.
The result is also bad news for newcomer Eline Vedder, farmer's wife on a dairy farm in Ruinerwold, board member of LTO and member of the Provincial Council of Drenthe. As number 23 on the CDA list, she will not enter the House without sufficient preference votes. Jaco Geurts does that in 11th place. Dairy farmer Cees de Jong is lower on the list, at number 34.
ChristenUnie and SGP don't move
The ChristenUnie, the party of the current agriculture minister Carola Schouten, has not benefited from the government's participation in the past 4 years. The party will remain tied in the forecast at 5 seats. That is one more than according to the exit poll last night. This means that the Hague councilor Pieter Grinwis, son of an arable farmer, has just entered the House of Representatives with fifth place on the list. Hermen Vreugdenhil may probably remain as number 9 on the list in the States of North Brabant.
Roelof Bisschop who has been returning to the House of Representatives for 8 years if the final result corresponds to the exit poll back in the House. With place 3 on the list, it remains exciting, but the SGP will win 3 seats according to the forecast.
JA21 on 4 seats, Fvd on 8
The new party JA21, where Jan Cees Vogelaar is at number 7, enters the Chamber with 4 seats. That is 1 more than the exit poll showed. The preferential threshold for the elections to the House of Representatives is 25% of the quota. Then he must also have received more votes than the number 3. That chance seems small.
Forum for Democracy can also call itself a winner of the elections. According to the prognosis, Thierry Baudet's party, which is also popular with many farmers, will reach 8 seats, 6 more than now. The Frisian dairy farmer Nynke Koopmans, who is number 22 of FvD, will not enter the House of Representatives without preferential votes.
Moral setback Party for the Animals
Party for the Animals goes from 5 to 6 seats according to the forecast and that is 1 seat gain. That is a moral setback for party leader Esther Ouwehand, because the PvDD had secretly counted on more on the basis of the polls. Member of parliament Laura Bromet is again assured of a seat in the House of Representatives with fourth place on the list of GroenLinks. But it is not pleasant at GroenLinks, because Jesse Klaver's party is halved in parliament to come out with 7 seats.
Also Greenpeace director Joris Thijssen, who also took part in agricultural debates on behalf of the PvdA, is assured of a place in the House with a sixth place. According to the forecast, PvdA will win 9 seats, equal to the current number.
