FrieslandCampina expands in Hungary

11 May 2021 - Chanti Oussoren

FrieslandCampina will increase production capacity in Hungary. With an investment of €14 million, production is expected to increase by 25%.

FrieslandCampina Hungary is one of the leading dairy companies in Hungary. The company currently employs 494 people and its annual profit is approximately €101 million, according to the online company database.

The dairy group will expand production capacity at its Mátészalka factory, located in Eastern Hungary. FrieslandCampina considers this expansion necessary because current production is reaching a capacity limit. This while the location was already expanded in 2019.

The new investment is expected to increase production by 25%. The focus will be on optimizing the production of, among other things, desserts with a high added value.

Growth opportunities
Péter Szautner, CEO of FrieslandCampina Hungary, emphasized that consumer habits are constantly changing and that the company is adapting to the increasing demand for lactose-free and sugar-free products. Szautner also sees great growth opportunities in the dairy market of Hungary and surrounding countries.

It is not the first time this year that FrieslandCampina has taken major steps. Earlier this year, the dairy group already entered into a joint venture for Egyptian cheese and recently it became known that it is a new factory is going to build in Malaysia.
