Animal feed giant De Heus has announced another acquisition. The company announced today (July 20) that it is taking over Coppens Diervoeding from Helmond. Family business De Heus has been active in the takeover path abroad in recent years, but is now making another move in its own country.
Coppens Diervoeding has a modern factory with a production capacity of about 400.000 tons of animal feed. It has traditionally had a strong regional position in the pig and broiler sector.
Confidence in sector
In an explanation, Co de Heus states that the family business has confidence in the future and that the company has grown under challenging circumstances in recent years, and that it has managed to attract new customers. "Market conditions, consumer demand and supermarkets are constantly changing. We want to assist our customers in the best possible way to meet these wishes of consumers, supermarkets and new concepts. To make this possible, sufficient production capacity and flexibility are important. Coppens increases our possibilities to respond well to this."
The acquisition announced today has yet to be approved by the competition authorities (ACM). No financial details of the planned acquisition have been disclosed. Earlier this year, De Heus completed the acquisition of the Polish Golpasz. This acquisition was already announced in 2020. De Heus is one of the largest global players in animal feed and is also active outside Europe in countries in Asia, Africa and South America.
