Green light for takeover of Kloosterboer

23 August 2021 - Jurphaas Lugtenburg

Lineage Dutch Bidco is allowed to take over Kloosterboer Vlissingen - active in, among other things, the refrigerated storage and transport of chips, meat and fish. This was announced by the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) last Friday (20 August).

In June, the companies made the plans for the acquisition known. The takeover sum has not been disclosed, but Bloomberg news agency previously estimated the value of Kloosterboer at around €1 billion.

Kloosterboer Vlissingen is engaged in the operation of cold stores, a container terminal in the port of Vlissingen and provides stevedore, forwarding, backhaul and customs services. In total, Kloosterboer has 11 locations spread over the Netherlands, France, Germany, Canada and South Africa and the company employs more than 900 people. Lineage Dutch Bidco 4 BV is part of the globally operating Lineage Logistics Group. The company is active in the field of logistics services, including temperature-controlled storage, transport and processing of goods. In the Netherlands, Lineage's activities are limited to the storage of products in cold stores and the forwarding of goods and to a limited extent the production of popsicles.
