Schumacher boss World Dairy Platform for 4 years

1 September 2021 - Klaas van der Horst - 1 reaction

FrieslandCampina CEO Hein Schumacher has an additional position. He has been appointed chairman of the World Dairy Platform (GDP).

The appointment is in principle for 4 years. Schumacher succeeds Rick Smith, the President and CEO of mega cooperative Dairy Farmers of America. Smith has been GDP chairman for the past 4 years.

Schumacher is pleased with the appointment: "I am honored to have been asked to chair GDP and to build on what Rick has achieved, supported by the board."

Smith has helped strengthen the role of GDP and ensure that dairy is seen as relevant and an essential part of a global sustainable food system, Schumacher said.

The GDP is primarily a lobbying organisation. More than 95 leading companies, companies, associations, scientific institutions and other partners are members. The organization is active in more than 150 countries. The members together produce about a third of all milk in the world.
