The members of the Dutch Dairy Farmers' Union (NMV) opt for renewal. The old, conflict-ridden administration is stepping down and replaced by an interim administration.
The members decided this at the general members' meeting (GM) of the union on September 1 in Nieuwegein.
The interim board must be appointed at a new general members' meeting to be convened in the period before December. In that case, a decision must also be made on a proposed amendment to the articles of association.
According to plan, this would already be implemented at the GMM on 1 September, but this met with several objections, including from members who felt that the reason for the proposed changes had not been made sufficiently clear. Daily board member Elly King mentioned last week being able to reclaim VAT by ZuivelNL and also the NMV itself as an important consideration.
ZuivelNL chairman Arjan Schimmel wanted an amendment to the articles of association as soon as possible, he said. According to him, other supporting organizations (the NZO and LTO) had already implemented such an amendment to the statutes. It has now become clear that LTO still has homework to do. Another salient fact that emerged is that ZuivelNL's in-house advisor, Mazers, has prepared the desired amendment to the statutes at the NMV.
An interim board to be appointed later this year should clear the air in the dispute-ridden organization and pave the way for the election of a new regular board. A new attempt to amend the articles of association will also be introduced under its supervision.
