Now that the daily board of the NMV has gone, the national board must nominate an interim summit before 1 December. In the coming weeks, more than 20 directors will put their heads together.
It is up to the national board to come up with a list of candidates and to make a preferred selection. An important question in the background will be how independent new NMV drivers should be. This was regularly heard among NMV members in recent days. It was also a question that played a role in the governance crisis within the organization.
A date for a new General Members' Meeting (GM) has not yet been set. It will likely take place sometime in late November. Until that time, a decision on an amendment to the articles of association must also be awaited, in which a distinction is made between ordinary members and members subject to VAT. If such a distinction exists, VAT can be reclaimed from the tax authorities.
The NMV itself can benefit from this, but ZuivelNL especially hopes to benefit from this. On an annual basis, according to this organization, that could make more than €1 million difference; money that, according to chairman Schimmel, can be well spent on all kinds of projects.
The NMV is not the only supporting organization of ZuivelNL that does not yet have the statutes ready for reclaiming VAT. LTO Nederland has already amended the statutes at a national level, but a few things still need to be done at the regional organisations, such as the ZLTO.
