Erwin Wunnekink will step down as chairman of FrieslandCampina after 3 months. Vice-chairman Sandra Addink-Berendsen will fulfill his duties, FrieslandCampina reported in a statement on Wednesday (September 22).
Wunnekink was only recently in office. On June 16, he succeeded Frans Keurentjes as chairman. Wunnekink has been a member of the cooperative board and the supervisory board since December 2009 and held the vice-chairmanship of both bodies from December 2016 until the middle of this year. The decision to step down came at the meeting of the CVD, the Central Assembly of District Presidents.

Vice-chairman Sandra Addink-Berendsen (like Wunnekink also a director of ForFarmers) will take up his duties until a new chairman has been appointed by the board of the cooperative.
Unrest
It is restless in the cooperative top of FrieslandCampina. Director Frans van der Hurk also resigned 2 weeks ago. This unrest is also a reason for Wunnekink to resign: "I have decided to step down in the interest of the cooperative. There is a lot of unrest in our cooperative and in the sector. In these times we need unity and decisiveness. I "I want to contribute to improving support and restoring trust in the board with my departure. We must look outwards and face the important challenges we face and dare to face them together."
Van den Hurk specifically cited the fact that too little could really be changed in the cooperative and the dairy company as a reason for resigning.
