FrieslandCampina wants to make it easier for members with a small capacity or other limitations to generate solar power. For this, the company has teamed up with Zelfstroom.
This party from Den Bosch is also active on the consumer market and offers citizens with an ordinary house the opportunity to generate solar energy.
A small capacity is understood to mean: a connected load of up to 3 times 80 amperes, or up to about 300 panels. What's more, falls under the title big.
FrieslandCampina has been helping member dairy farmers to generate solar power since 2017. Before that, RFC teamed up with the Frisian Green Life at the time. Through this collaboration, but also through livestock farmers' own initiatives, 3.300 members of the cooperative have now installed solar panels on their farms.
Some of the members also wanted to purchase solar panels, but were unable to do so due to all kinds of obstacles, FrieslandCampina noted. This concerns matters such as limited capacity on the electricity network or other company-specific reasons. In collaboration with Zelfstroom, the cooperative hopes to tackle these problems and attract even more members to solar power generation.
In addition to solar energy, member companies also use wind energy and manure fermentation for sustainable energy generation. The sustainable energy production of more than 3.300 member dairy farms can be followed via www.frieslandcampinaopwek.nl.
