The farmers of the BoerenNL group have been posting for about five weeks in front of the entrance to the temporary House of Representatives. To talk about the nitrogen problem, to get the message across and to create understanding. And to demand equal treatment, such as for road traffic and agriculture.
A discussion on the latter this week got a group of top officials from the Ministry of Agriculture thinking, the group reports. Last week, after several short conversations, they were supposed to have a real conversation with outgoing minister Schouten, but that conversation was canceled unbeknownst to the minister by an official who arranges her agenda. As a saving grace, a delegation of 'nitrogen officials' came to talk to the group this week. An intensive discussion started, says spokesperson Rutger van Lier of BoerenNL.
Hanging in the nitrogen tunnel
"In our opinion, they stayed too long in the nitrogen tunnel, with a goal and achieving goals and creating tailor-made packages. And the cabinet formation has to draw up a plan. That sort of thing. We then clearly explained that many goals from the Water Framework Directive were never achieved. will become that the agricultural sector has already reduced a lot of nitrogen in recent years, that we have taken many measures for which we have not been paid a cent, and they only look at what is legally tenable and whether it can be safeguarded. knows it."
Speed limit not guaranteed
"In that regard, Stefan te Selle pointed out that the speed limit from 130 to 100 kilometers per hour has ensured that 20.000 homes can be built. In the meantime, that is not legally guaranteed at all. One drives 110, the other 115 and who makes sure everyone adheres to that? We had a point there, it was conceded. They might have to look at things a little more practically. They will be in touch shortly for follow-up."
BoerenNL, which includes farmers from FDF to LTO, is now continuing to post to the House of Representatives. Again and again with a different group of farmers, from all parts of the country.
