The Agrifacts Foundation (STAF) will receive a sponsorship contribution from De Heus, Royal A-ware and VanDrie Group for the next three years. There are no further requirements for the contributions. STAF can use it at its own discretion. In total, the foundation will receive a contribution of €225.000 per year for three years.
Jaap Haanstra, chairman of Agrifacts Foundation, is very happy with the contribution. "This allows us to significantly expand our research capacity. We receive a lot of tips from the agricultural sector about topics that we could research. Thanks to the contribution, we can really investigate many of those topics in depth." In addition to a financial injection, the official sponsorship is also recognition for the work of the foundation, he believes.
Consciously being transparent
The four parties involved have consciously opted for transparency regarding sponsorship. "We want to be clear about this to everyone," said a Royal A-ware spokesperson. CEO Jan Anker adds: "We are a family business that feels closely connected to the agricultural sector. We endorse the need to make the way we produce food more sustainable. But the policy that determines the frameworks must be correct."
He continues: "We regularly see examples of rules that seem to make sense on paper. However, it often turns out that the substantiation is not at all as solid as is suggested, while in practice the implementation sometimes has very serious consequences for farmers and their family businesses. That is why it is good that the Agrifacts Foundation thoroughly investigates the underpinning of policy that is questionable." Marijke Everts, director of corporate affairs at VanDrie Group, lets herself in similar terms from. It is no different at De Heus.
STAF also receives numerous contributions from subscribers and donors, but would still like to conclude more sponsorship contracts with large companies in the sector.
