CZAV's profits almost tripled

14 January 2022 - Jurphaas Lugtenburg

The CSAV closes the 2020/2021 financial year with a profit of €6,5 million. Last year the profit was €2,3 million. The discount and the members' bonus of the book profit have already been removed after the sale of the supermarket activities. The cooperative announced this today (Friday 14 January).

€2,5 million was paid to the members for a discount on crop protection products, animal feed, fertilizers and maize and onion seed. In addition, a €1,5 member surcharge is distributed among the members. That is part of the payment in three years after the sale of the Agrimarkt supermarkets to Jumbo.

In the first year in which Cebeco Granen is a 100% subsidiary of CZAV, this company made an excellent contribution to the cooperative's results. Partly through efficient logistics and partly through trading activities. The relatively wet course of the summer, together with the investments in knowledge, determined the growth in turnover and market share, according to the CZAV. Keeping the disease pressure manageable required extra attention in cultivation supervision and entailed extra costs for the grower. This ultimately affects the yield on the crops. In order to keep up with changes in the agricultural field, investments were made last year in the knowledge team and the company Farm21 for processing and analyzing data.
