Cheese maker Lactalis Leerdammer keeps the February price that it pays out to suppliers unchanged compared to January. The company is thus following the example of FrieslandCampina and Arla Foods.
Lactalis Leerdammer pays €3,70 per kilo of fat and €8,25 per kilo of protein, just like last month. According to the company's statement, the total milk price thus amounts to €45,28 per 100 kilos of milk (excluding VAT and after deduction of the ZuivelNL contribution). The price applies to an annual supply of 1,1 million kilos of milk and standard contents of 4,41% fat and 3,47% protein.
In Boerenbusiness Dutch Milk price calculator the bare milk price is €43,55 per 100 kilos. The meadow milk price is €45,55, the maximum milk price is €46,80 per 100 kilos.
Outdone by A-ware and DOC Kaas
Because Leerdammer keeps the milk price the same this month, the company is surpassed in terms of payment by both A-ware and DOC Kaas. The latter in particular has not happened for a long time.
A possible explanation, or part of the explanation, could be that Lactalis Leerdammer makes a large part of branded cheeses. They generally move less rapidly when prices rise. This is also due to the fact that contract negotiations take place less often. Other producers of branded cheeses, such as Cono and, to a certain extent, Rouveen, are also affected. The real foil cheese makers move much more directly with the market and therefore feel a possible decline in the market (not an issue at the moment) much earlier.
