Of all employers in the agricultural sector who have received an advance under the NOW (the temporary emergency measure to bridge the gap to maintain employment), half have not yet applied for a definitive calculation (or postponement). They must do this before March 31, otherwise the advance must be refunded.
Of the 1.160 NOW recipients in agriculture, landscaping and fishing, 578 persons (49,8%) have submitted their application for the final calculation. 582 employers have yet to do so. This is comparable to the national average, according to the UWV benefits agency. In all sectors together, 63.500 employers have received an advance and almost 49% of these have now requested the final calculation. If an employer does not submit an application before 31 March, the UWV cannot make a definitive calculation and the allowance is set at €0. The full advance must then be repaid.
Employers who have received more than €20.000 in advance require a third-party statement or auditor's report. An extension can be requested for this, because it is busy with bookkeepers and accountants. A special form is available on the UWV website for this postponement.
Collecting all information takes time
"Fortunately, research shows that almost all employers now know that they have to make that application and that they are often already working on it," says UWV board chairman Maarten Camps in a press release. "Nevertheless, more than a quarter of the employers who have not yet requested the final calculation, still have to start the job. We advise them to really get started with it now, because it often takes some time to collect all the information and deliver."
