Agrifirm invests in impact investor

22 March 2022 - Stef Wissink - 3 comments

Agrifirm Cooperative will collaborate with and invest money in impact investor Astanor Ventures. Astanor invests in 'impact-driven agrifood tech start-ups' that can play a role in tackling challenges such as climate change, biodiversity, circularity and health.

The partners will strengthen each other in the field of knowledge exchange. Astanor has a great deal of expertise in the growth of start-ups and has an extensive network in the international world of agri-food start-ups. As an agricultural cooperative, Agrifirm can contribute technical and practical knowledge from the primary agricultural sector and has a broad network in this sector. Agrifirm can support Astanor in the evaluation of companies and technologies for future investments. Agrifirm also offers start-ups access to its extensive network of farmers to optimize new technologies and support them in the commercialization of services and products.

Knowledge for cooperative members
According to the company, the collaboration pays off for Agrifirm in strengthening the cooperative's start-up network. In addition, it can accelerate Agrifirm's innovative power and transfer innovative and sustainable solutions to the cooperative members.

When asked, a spokesperson said that Agrifirm also 'joined the fund' and is therefore making a financial investment. The amount involved is 'confidential' and the company does not want to say.

We members have subordinated financing to agrifirm, let them tell you where they put our money, play nice with other people's money. We've seen good things about that before.

the farmers have been smart enough to always forward their data.
as a result, the suppliers and buyers knew perfectly what the cost price was in order to squeeze the farmers further
