Livestock feed company De Heus can look back successfully on 2021, with both turnover and profit showing a significant increase. At least on the Dutch home market, the group result is not yet known.
Although De Heus's empire extends far beyond its own national borders, De Heus still achieves about a third of its turnover in the Netherlands. It rose by more than a quarter to €1,38 billion last year. Net profit even rose by more than 30% to €23,3 million. In recent years, the activities outside the Netherlands proportionally more profitable than at home. In 2020, the feed company achieved a profit of €125 million from a turnover of €3,2 billion.
High raw material prices
While the competition is struggling with declining results, De Heus still has the wind in its sails. The decline in livestock or higher energy prices had no negative impact on the results last year, as did the effect of the increased raw material prices. Although grain and gas prices really shot through the roof as a result of the war in Ukraine, the prices were already bad then.
Last October, De Heus completed the takeover from Coppens off. A 20% interest was also taken in the Belgian company Plumeco. De Heus jointly invested €30,6 million for this, according to the annual report.
